The project features two 200-meter-tall towers, equivalent to nearly 60-story buildings, adorned with nearly 30,000 mirrors spread across the ground. These mirrors form concentric circles, focusing sunlight onto the twin towers.

Similar to traditional coal-fired power plants, concentrated sunlight heats water to generate electricity. However, this innovative design boasts the ability to produce electricity even at night. Molten salt, stored within the towers, acts as a thermal battery, capturing excess heat generated during the day and releasing it to power the generators continuously.

The mirrors are crafted from specialized materials, boasting a remarkable 94% reflectivity.

Double Tower Design for Enhanced Performance

China's foray into concentrated solar power began in 2016, but this latest project marks a significant leap forward with its unique twin-tower design. Project director Wen Jianghong explains, "The mirrors in the surrounding area can shine on either tower. This structure is expected to increase efficiency by 24 percent."

CMG's video highlights the incredible ability of the mirrors to follow the sun's movement. During the morning, they focus sunlight on the eastern tower and automatically adjust towards the west in the afternoon.

According to CMG's report, this innovative design isn't limited to just two towers. It holds the potential to illuminate multiple towers for even greater efficiency. The plant is expected to become operational by the end of 2024.
